Application
Recommendations for use
Note: The recommendations below are valid for BioAct®WG (1 x 1010 spores per gram). For BioAct®WP (1 x 1011 spores per gram) the rates must be divided by 10. The method of application is identical.
BioAct®WG is a water dispersible granule and BioAct®WP is a wettable powder for the reduction/control of plant parasitic nematodes in the soil, which can be applied with conventional spraying or irrigation equipment.
In order to control the nematodes effectively, BioAct®WG has to be applied repeatedly:

| Treatment | Timing | Rate of Application | Type of Application |
| Treatment of the pot culture | When planting (last set before the plantlets are transplanted into the field) | 0.5 g/pot | Dissolve BioAct®WG in the required amount of water, then water the product in the pot soil. |
| First treatment of the plants in the field | When planting | 300 g in 30 litres of water for 200 plants (1.5 g/plant) | Prepare spore suspension and apply 75 ml per plant when planting in the planting hole and another 75 ml onto the refilled soil directly after planting. If possible, drench the product by using an appropriate irrigation system. |
| Treatment of the plants (sucker sprouts) | Repeated treatment at intervals of six months | 300 g in 30 litres of water for 200 plants (1.5 g/plant) | Prepare spore suspension and spray 150 ml uniformly over a 25 cm radius area around the sucker sprouts. If possible, drench the product by using an appropriate irrigation system. If no irrigation system is available apply before or during rain. |

Vegetables, ornamentals and tobacco The application programme should include the following applications: First application: Pre-planting treatment (A) |
|||
| (A) Pre-planting treatment: | |||
| The first treatment of BioAct® should take place 14 days prior to planting. Apply the product suspended in water by spraying or pouring just at the spots, where the plants will be transplanted later on. Spraying equipment should be clean and free of any crop chemicals or fertilizers. BioAct® can also be applied through a drip irrigation system. | |||
| (B) Seedling treatment: | |||
| The second treatment is recommended at planting time. Seedlings should be watered with a BioAct® suspension just before transplanting. | |||
| (C) Post-planting and repeated treatments: | |||
| After planting, apply BioAct® every six weeks around the base of each plant. Following application, it is essential to drench the soil with BioAct®. Plenty of water facilitates the distribution of BioAct® in the rhizosphere. | |||

| Crops: Tomato, Curcurbit, Carrot, Lettuce, Celery, Pepper, Melon, Tobacco, etc. | |||
| Treatment | Time of Application | Rate of Application | Type of Application |
| First Application
A = Pre-planting soil treatment |
At least 14 days before planting | 0.2 g per plant
but max 4 kg/ha |
Apply the product suspended in water by spraying or pouring just at the spots, where the plants will be transplanted later on. Use sufficient water. After application water the product in by using drip or overhead sprinkler irrigation. When doing so, the soil should be moistened to a depth of 20 cm.
If the above application is not possible: Apply BioAct®WG through the drip irrigation system. |
| Second Application
B = Seedling treatment |
Just before planting | 0.1 to 10g/100 seedlings (The amount of product needed depends on the amount of potting soil. Use 0.01 g of product per 100 ml of potting soil.) | Dissolve BioAct®WG in the required amount of water; just before transplanting water in evenly over seedling/transplant trays or pots. Always combine seedling treatment with A (pre-planting soil treatment) and C (post-planting drench)! |
| Following Applications
C = Post-planting drench |
6 weeks after planting, then repeated every 6-8 weeks | 0.2 g per plant
but max 4 kg/ha |
Apply through the drip irrigation system.
or alternatively: Water in 200-500 ml of the suspension around the base of each plant. If the above application is not possible: Spray the soil surface around the base of the plants and drench afterwards with sufficient water. Using the irrigation system for drenching is permissible. |
| Make sure that the product is definitely distributed to a depth of about 20 cm in the soil by drenching it in, but do not apply an excess since the applied product must not be washed out again. The amount of water needed depends on the soil texture. Consequently, the amount of water required may have to be defined before application by carrying out a small preliminary trial. |
